This picture was taken in Haridwar, during the Aarti near "Har ki Paudi". As I wrote along with a couple of pictures ago that this is the place where every Hindu wants to come and have a bath once in his/her lifetime. Probably, the rest of the family is attending the aarti and grandmother is waiting for the Aarti to end with her grandchildren. The actual place of worship is rather crowded.
Besides this picture Haridwar is important because Maha Kumbh Mela is starting there in 5 days. This "fair" is the biggest religious gathering in the world and takes place every 12 years. Photographers from around the world flock to Kumbh Mela to see an India which even most of Indians have not seen. Too bad I am in Washington DC. But too good I am going to be there for a few days in February and will go there for sure. It will be crowded and overwhelming, but I am sure it will be worth it!
On a completely seperate note, I have bought a photographic printer, the Canon PIXMA Pro 9000 Mark II. It has made me realize that printing really is an important aspect of photography. You have never seen a picture completely till you have printed it. So I am experimenting with post processing, papers and softwares. I have officially started selling prints! :)
If you would like one shoot me an email and I will get back to you ASAP.
